BoardPAC participated in the IOD National Conclave on Boards, held on 5 September 2026 at Taj Lands End, Mumbai. Organised by the Institute of Directors (IOD), the event centred on the theme “Board Leadership for an Emerging Global Order,” bringing together directors, policymakers and business leaders to explore the evolving responsibilities of boards.
The conclave provided a valuable opportunity for BoardPAC to connect with India’s governance community, including Mr. Tukaram Munde, IAS, and fellow leaders in corporate governance.
Reflecting on the event, Hunain Ansari, a representative of BoardPAC shared “The board’s responsibilities now extend into areas that many directors weren’t dealing with a decade ago. With AI and cybersecurity, for example, you don’t need to be the technical expert, but you do need to understand what’s at stake. You can delegate the work; you still own the decision.”
This fundamentally followed the theme of the event where concepts such as the evolving role of boards through sessions on enterprise resilience, regulatory expectations and the responsibilities of independent directors were explored. Further sessions examined board oversight of AI, cybersecurity and digital trust, alongside ESG integration, financial resilience and sustainable value creation.
Hunain added that, “Being at the IOD convention in Mumbai gave me a chance to step back and think about how much we’re asking for boards today. Directors are expected to exercise sound judgment on increasingly unfamiliar issues. That makes continued learning a real responsibility, because it’s difficult to challenge a decision if you don’t understand what sits behind it.”
