Turning information into meaningful insight was at the heart of BoardPAC’s participation in the CGI Global Governance Summit 2026. Held at the KLGCC Convention Centre in Kuala Lumpur, the two-day gathering brought together company secretaries, legal professionals and governance practitioners to exchange ideas and experiences.
For Siti Nor Idayu Amat Rahim, a representative at BoardPAC, attending her first MAICSA event provided an opportunity to meet the people behind the profession.
“This was my first MAICSA event, and it was a great experience, from connecting with company secretaries and meeting our existing clients to building new relationships and exchanging ideas,” she said.
At the BoardPAC stall, the team welcomed visitors over both days, meeting existing clients and those interested in discussing their boardroom challenges. For Siti, the combination of these conversations and the welcoming atmosphere made the experience particularly memorable.
“A big thank you to the MAICSA team for making the event so engaging and welcoming. Looking forward to more meaningful connections ahead!”
The energy of the gathering stood out for Reshmaa Kaur, a representative at BoardPAC, who noted a marked change in engagement.
“This year has been a whole turnaround. The entire event was vibrant and there was way more traction and engagement this year,” she said. “Different countries, different perspectives, interesting ideas and conversations were exchanged.”
For Deepa Nadarajan, another representative at BoardPAC, that international participation was also an important part of the experience. “Bringing together people from different countries opened up opportunities to hear new perspectives, share ideas, and have meaningful conversations,” she said.
For Povendraganesh Sanmugasundaram, a representative at BoardPAC, the summit’s value lay in the people it brought together and the discussions that followed.
“A fantastic gathering of Company Secretaries, legal minds and board governance folks with sharp conversations, fresh perspectives and plenty of takeaways!” he said..
His enthusiasm extended beyond the two days: “Definitely taking a lot back from this one, and already looking forward to seeing everyone again next year!”
For BoardPAC, the programme included a panel contribution from Tharindu Wickramasekera, Senior Vice President – Innovation & Customer Success, alongside opportunities for the team to reconnect with clients and build relationships across the governance community.
This challenge formed a central theme of ‘Board Papers Precision: Turning Information into Strategic Insight’, where Tharindu brought over 20 years of software industry experience and more than a decade at BoardPAC to the discussion.
Joining him were Wan Marzimin, General Counsel and Company Secretary at Maybank, and Liza Khan, Founder of Liza Khan Chambers. Mohamad Affendi Yusoff, Director, Secretarial at Khazanah Nasional Berhad, moderated the session.
The panel explored how governance professionals can turn detailed management reports into concise, decision-focused board papers. Reducing information overload and using dashboards and digital board portals to support strategic discussions were among the subjects considered.
Tharindu also described AI’s potential to move organisations from “information production” towards “information intelligence”. His reflections emphasised that, while technology can process information and support analysis, management and directors remain responsible for judgement, accountability and constructive challenge.
Together, these points brought attention to the purpose behind preparing a board paper: giving directors the clarity they need to examine an issue, ask relevant questions and make an informed decision.
The BoardPAC raffle drew an overwhelming response from attendees, with participants entering for a chance to win headphones, power banks and AI note transcribers. The strong participation added another lively element to the two-day event.
Joel Mendis, a representative from BoardPAC explained the rationale of the raffle by saying, “In addition to the usual activities, we wanted to do something a little different to create some excitement and engagement among the crowds attending the event. So introducing a raffle draw was a great addition.”
On the reaction it drew from the crowd he mentioned, “It created some excitement and anticipation throughout the event and even drove attendees to our booth which helped our team interact with them, giving the team meaningful one on one time with everyone who attended. it was definitely a great touch to the event”
BoardPAC concluded its participation by receiving a Certificate of Participation from Justin J Anthony, Chief Executive of the Chartered Governance Institute of Malaysia (MAICSA).
From Tharindu’s contribution to the panel to the team’s conversations with clients and fellow participants, the summit provided an opportunity to share knowledge and strengthen relationships within the governance community.
BoardPAC extends its thanks to MAICSA, the panellists, the moderator and everyone who visited the team over the two days, and looks forward to continuing these conversations.
