Directors and business leaders will have a chance to learn more about Artificial Intelligence and the cyber risks that come with it at ‘Breakfast with AI – Are Boards Ready?’ on Friday, October 16. Organised by the Sri Lanka Institute of Directors (SLID), the session will take place at The London Grill, Cinnamon Grand, from 7.30 a.m. to 10.30 a.m.
BoardPAC is proud to be a Platinum Corporate Partner of SLID, and supports the initiative as part of its efforts to share knowledge on AI and governance with directors and those who work closely with boards.
With organisations moving from trying out AI to putting it into everyday use, the session will look at what these developments mean for boards and the decisions they make. Particular attention will be given to Agentic AI, how it affects the speed and scale of cyber threats, as well as what businesses can do to prepare for them.
The keynote speaker will be Prof. Harin Sellahewa, Professor of Computing and Dean of the Faculty of Computing, Law and Psychology at the University of Buckingham, who will also take part in the panel discussion.
Joining him will be Dr. Romesh Ranawana, Group Chief Analytics and AI Officer at Dialog Axiata; Ashwini Natesan, a legal consultant and research fellow in technology, media and telecommunications law; and Abhinav Johri, Partner at EY India and a leader in technology, digital engineering and AI transformation. Boshan Dayaratne, Group Director and CEO of CICRA Holdings, will moderate the discussion.
Among the areas covered will be five core questions every director should ask their Chief Information Security Officer or Chief Executive Officer before approving AI investments. Participants will also learn about moving from a compliance checklist to taking an active role in preparing for and responding to cyber risks.
The panel will share lessons from the C-suite on balancing innovation with protection. In addition, an interactive question and answer session will give participants the opportunity to raise their own questions.
For BoardPAC, supporting board leadership also means giving directors opportunities to learn and ask questions. Sessions such as this give them a chance to better understand how AI could affect their organisations and what they need to consider before making decisions about its use.
The programme is open to board members, directors, C-level executives, senior managers and business leaders.
Anyone interested can register through the SLID website, with members required to log in to obtain the member rate. Places are limited and participation will be confirmed upon receipt of payment. For more information, contact SLID on 076 545 4279 or email events@slid.lk.
